October 2026 Cozy Mystery Releases

October is stacked this year. Every cozy series I follow seems to be dropping a book inside the same four weeks. So I split this post in two. First come the ten releases I’ve already read and reviewed, each with book links and a quick glance on what I thought about it. After that are the thirteen I haven’t touched yet but am counting down to, with a line on why each one has me excited.

Books I’ve Read and Reviewed

Murder on Thin Ice by Laurie Cass
Minnie, Eddie, and Chilson are as warm as ever, and Aunt Frances’s cooking lessons are chaotically delightful.

Deck the Halls with Boughs of Murder (Christmas Tree Farm Mystery #7) by Jacqueline Frost
Holly’s first Christmas as a new mom makes for a quieter mystery, wrapped in Frost’s snowy, cinnamon-scented Christmas town.

Home for the Homicides (Holly & Mark Mystery #1) by Elle Cosimano & Hannah Morrissey
The three-narrator audio performance is a treat, and the Christmas town is a setting worth revisiting.

A Murder at Midnight (Novel Detectives Mystery #4) by Ellie Alexander
A genuinely clever whodunit with a killer’s method I never saw coming, plus great character growth for the Novel Detectives team.

The Enchanted Atlas of Fortune and Fate (Natural Magic #4) by Ciara Blume
Tempest’s road trip with a parrot and a bus full of books to trivia competitions is a slow, detailed delight that grows on you.

The Little Shop of Gentle Magics (The Enchanted Thistle #1) by Jessica Rosenberg
A relationship-driven story set around a Scottish village shop, best for readers who want romance at the center.

Serial Killer Wanted by Nika Grace
A sharp, sticky premise where the unsettling, oddly tender connection between Dani and Jeika is the heart of the book.

Death by Red Velvet Latte (Bookstore Cafe Mystery #16) by Alex Erickson
Krissy is a believably overwhelmed bride-to-be rather than a superhero sleuth, in a series I’m still showing up for sixteen books in.

The Spiral (Nina Esposito Mystery #1) by Rosanne Limoncelli
Vivid, atmospheric 1979 Greenwich Village suspense with writing so visual it stays with you.

Murder in the Upper Crust (Deep Dish Mysteries #6) by Mindy Quigley
The pizza descriptions are dangerous on an empty stomach, Delilah’s relationships keep growing, and the killer got past me completely.

Books I Can’t Wait to Read

October 6

A Pinch of Magic by Emily Heil
A cookbook ghostwriter heads home to coastal Virginia and accidentally summons a ghost from an old cookbook. I can’t wait because I love paranormal cozies, and a ghost plus food is the perfect combination.

The Undercover Bookshop by Katherine Reay
In 1950 Cotswolds, amateur sleuth Gemma Brown suspects the village’s best baker is a Soviet spy, which leads her to open the Undercover Bookshop. I’m excited because it’s historical fiction with strong female leads, and it sounds inspiring and thrilling.

A Serving of Hope (Kamogawa Food Detectives #4) by Hisashi Kashiwai
A father-daughter “food detective” duo in a Kyoto diner recreate dishes from people’s pasts to bring back lost memories. I can never get enough of Koishi and Chef Nagare, and food tied to memory is wonderful in translated fiction.

The Claus Conspiracy by Tamara Berry
A former journalist turned barista and podcaster finds a dead Santa in an amnesiac teen’s trunk and follows a trail of rogue mall Santas. I’m excited because it’s a Christmas cozy and I’m ready for the season.

Murder at Buttermilk Café by Harper Burton
A disgraced food critic turned café owner becomes the prime suspect when the critic who ruined her career drops dead in her dining room, and her golden retriever picks up a trail the humans miss. I’m a huge fan of indie authors, and this one feels like a winner in my bones.

October 13

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Murder (Kiss Merry Kill #2) by Ally Carter
A billionaire’s grandson fakes his own death and the housekeeper’s daughter is the only one who knows he’s alive, in a snowed-in holiday romance-mystery. I’m skeptical about romance, but a Christmas cozy with dead bodies makes up for it.

October 16

The Wrong Ambrose Hearne (Marrow & Vine Mystery #1) by Alice Wendover
A proofreader inherits her aunt’s second-hand bookshop and, when a dealer signing in as Ambrose Hearne is found dead, works out the killer from thirty-one years of buying ledgers. It’s another indie author with an amazing premise.

Genre: Cozy Mystery | 🏷️ Independently published | 📅 Oct 16, 2026
Goodreads | Pagebound | Hardcover

October 20

The Key to a Killer (Ruby and Cordelia Mysteries #3) by Olivia Blacke
Ruby and her ghost roommate Cordelia investigate Cordelia’s own death after her memories of that day start coming back. A lot of secrets get revealed and I can’t wait to hear it all.

Enchanted Village by Lily Starling
The first non-magical teacher at a magic school helps a grumpy witch save her enchanted pub in a village that feels like Dream Harbor set at Hogsmeade. It’s cozy fantasy in a Christmas village, so what’s not to like?

The Christmas Clue by Nicola Upson
On Christmas Eve 1943, the couple who invented Cluedo arrive at a snowy hotel to run a murder mystery game and find a real body. I love the premise of this historic cozy.

October 27

A Classic Case of Murder (Literary Dining Mystery #3) by Daryl Wood Gerber
Personal chef Allie Catt’s Dickens-themed dinner party turns deadly when a priceless first edition of A Christmas Carol vanishes and the rare-book expert who authenticated it is murdered. I’m a huge fan of the series and of Allie.

The Liars’ Book Club (Secret, Book and Scone Society #9) by Ellery Adams
A flood hits Miracle Springs, the groom never shows up, a valuable manuscript folio is stolen, and bodies start turning up in the river. It’s another series I can’t get enough of.

The Santa Claus Con by Lauren Kung Jessen
Two Christmas-hating FBI agents, and former rivals, must stop someone claiming to be Santa from sabotaging New York’s SantaCon. I’m already in the Christmas season, so this Christmas mystery is right on time.
