I stumbled into The Otherwhere Post for my Goodreads Challenge, expecting it to be outside of my wheelhouse. YA Fantasy is not typically my genre, and I almost gave up in the first 10% of the audio-book. It felt too fantastical, too young. But oh, how it won me over!

This story had all the elements a mystery lover craves: twists, a compelling heroine, and a journey full of suspense. Maeve’s quest to clear her father’s name is a masterclass in blending YA fantasy with magical mystery stakes. Each twist in this dark academia fantasy audio-book kept me hooked, unraveling secrets with a pace that felt like a cozy fireside chat morphing into a heart-pounding sprint. Kreinik’s narration brought Maeve’s strength and vulnerability to life, making every revelation hit harder.

The pacing throughout was well structured, and pulled me in, with the mystery unfolding just right… until the ending. The finale felt chaotic and rushed, which left me confused about how everything wrapped up. Still, the emotional depth, gothic atmosphere, and dark academia themes made this audiobook a unique and engaging read.
